Interview with Matthias Gläser – A look behind the scenes of our new Sales Manager for Southern Germany

Matthias joined our sales team in August 2024 and covers Southern Germany as Sales Manager. Honouring the solvimus tradition, we were keen to know his impressions and experiences thus far. Who is the personality behind the role ? Read on to learn more on Matthias and his initial weeks with us.

How did you get to know solvimus?

I had known solvimus for a while already! My prior employer, the ifesca GmbH, is a partner company of solvimus, and I thus came into contact with solvimus within the framework of a common project. More precisely with Remo Reichel. We were working on a common project. Also, I met him and the team repeatedly at the E-world energy & water in Essen, Germany.

When I stumbled upon the job advert on LinkedIn, it was evident: I had to apply! I wrote directly to Remo and was short-listed – the perfect step to become a member of solvimus.

Work is but half of the lifetime. What is your favourite leisure-time activity?

Nerd activities! 😊

I adore Magic:The Gathering, gaming on the computer and I also play board games with my children. Other than that, I do a lot of sports – be it beach volleyball, basketball or stand-up-paddling, I’m up for almost any sport. And if I want to relax, I go to the garden and find my recreation there.

Job interviews are the one thing – what prompted your decision to opt for solvimus?

The job interviews with our HR officer Sarah and my future peer, sales manager Thomas, were really great. Both were utmost kind from the beginning and conveyed a promising first impression. What convinced me even more was the marketing concept of solvimus, and of course the top-notch products. In short: I knew it’s a match.

How was your first week at the company? How was your onboarding?

I have almost no recollection at the first week – it went by in a flash!
The onboarding was magnificent and corroborated once again that the decision for solvimus was the correct one. It is intriguing that one gets a hands-on experience in the production during onboarding. I had to drill holes with an electric drill … I admit, not my favourite activity😊.

How do you explain your parents what you are doing at solvimus?

That is rather simple: as sales manager I work in sales and sell products *laughing*.
I visit clients, win customers, tend to existing contacts and I represent us at trade fairs and events in order to expand our network.
My area is Southern Germany, and so I service all customers and contacts in that region. We are still trying to fill the position for Northern Germany who will then be my counterpart.

What is the first thing you do in the morning?

In the office? Switch on the screen and get coffee!
When working from home … this remains my little secret. 😉

What is the biggest challenge in your work?

Tough question!
The greatest challenge is definitively to be on the right spot at the right time – being in touch with the customer whenever he needs our advice. Many potential customers are not yet acquainted with us and our solutions even though we are able to address their specific concerns. That means, telling them on time that we provide precisely the solution they are seeking.

What is your favourite product?

Hm … the MUC.one data concentrator.
The product has great potential and can be easily extended. It is especially enticing that we can adapt it flexibly according to customers’ requests, rendering it highly versatile. The MUC.one can thus be used on an individual basis – that is compelling!

Dear Matthias, we are glad you joined the solvimus team and appreciate your enthusiasm and energy for our sales!
We are certain to implement many more exciting projects and will be better known in the southern region.
